11 yr.old JRT

my JRT is 11 yrs.old. She eats grain free food and I bathe her and all her bedding every other wk. She stinks, my house stinks. Also, She loves to sit in the sun and I notice her skin is very pink. She also rolls in the grass even though I try to prevent her from doing so.

I have also noticed a small hard dime size lump by her rib area where her harness hits, it looks like a bite but isn't.
She is also not so alert as she use to be, I can walk into the house and she doesn't respond to the door opening, like she did in the past.

any ideas
thanks

COULD BE
by: Anonymous

Jeanne: Your dog probably has developed a hearing problem, so that she does not hear the door open when you come home. My dog would be sleeping on the couch and I would sit down at the other end of the couch and hold my hand under her nose and presto she would awaken and "smile" at me. I'm just guessing.

Jack Russell smells
by: Patty

I'm wondering if it could be something with your Jack Russell's anal sacs. It could also be an infection in her mouth. Definitely check in with the vet.
You don't have to bath her as much as you are (especially since that is not helping with the smell) because sometimes that can irritate the skin - but if she is itchy maybe an oatmeal bath might help. And since she loves the sun so much you can look into getting doggy sunscreen. They sell it online at places like Amazon or you could get it from your local pet store- usually it's can be sprayed on.
As for not being as alert - the same thing is happening to my Jack. I bet it's her hearing. She doesn't hear when you come and go anymore. We put a jingly bell on our door so that when it is jostled our dog can hear it better.
Good luck with your Jack, let us know how it goes.
