13 year old JRT pooping in house and drinking lots of water

I have a (13) year old female JRT who has been my beloved companion. She hardly ever pooped in the house and in the last few weeks she poops in the house and drinks lots of water. I've taken her to the vet and they did blood work but nothing unusual showed up. She still energetic and very active and still loves her walks.

I do watch a neighbors dog overnight occasionally and that dog poops in the house because it's not properly house trained.

Any clues as to what might be wrong.

Jack Russell pooping house
by: Dan

Since your Jack is starting to get up in years and the blood work you had was normal - it may be possible that it's Canine dementia. Out other dog (not a Jack, just a mutt) had it and was pretty much healthy but would sort of wander around the house a bit aimlessly and would eliminate in the house as well even though he was potty trained for years. Maybe it's something to discuss with your vet. In any case, I would see about limiting her access to your house and maybe trying to put her on a very set potty schedule with more frequent opportunities to go out.
