Aggression with my Jack

by Kathleen
(Reading, MA)

My Jack Russell Terrier, Cooper age 22 months has become aggressive about being groomed. Last week the groomer called and said come get him we can't finish him. Yesterday I tried to remove a tick from his back and he became very upset with me, growling and snapping.
He previously had an issue with sudden movements, but I think we have resolved this.

Any suggestions are appreciated. He's a real sweet dog and very affeciate when he wishes.

Jack getting aggressive
by: William

Have you had her checked out by the vet just in case there is something that is causing her pain? Some dogs react to pain by growling/snapping. If everything checks out then I would get on this immediately. Is there any way you could hire a specialized pet behaviorist? Also, have you tried obedience classes? That is a good way for you and your Jack to bond as well as to increase her confidence/socialization.
