barking in cage at night

by Alice
(NJ)

Our jackchi is trained well, but sometimes she wakes up at 4am and barks non stop to get out of the cage and play. We have tried putting her to be later, but she gets up early and will not stop barking until we let her out. Any suggestions?

Early morning barking

Have you tried ignoring it for a few days to see if it goes away?

Maybe it's worth a try to keep the crate door open at night so that when she wakes up she can get out and play and not feel the need to bark.

Put a frozen Kong in with her at night so that it takes time for her to go through it - and it would be available for her in the early hours too so that she can be amused.

Make sure that she is not hearing miscellaneous noises - like the paper delivery - and see if you might need to switch where she sleeps.

Exercise Exercise Exercise. Try longer more vigorous naps to keep her occupied.
