Black Spots

by Jim
(Ohio)

My jack is 5 1/2 years old, he is/was primarly all white with the exception of his ears and tail which had some black coloring to it. Over the last few weeks we have noticed that he is getting a lot more black to him, his fur is turning black in spots and he is getting more freckles/ ticking of the skin or whatever you want to call it.

Is this normal, what or why would these changes begin now at this age.

Thank you

Jack Russell getting black spots.

In many cases, these spots are quite normal. Some dogs develop dark patches on their skin as they get older. It the spots aren’t itchy or scaly and the skin isn’t thickened or is showing hair loss, then I wouldn't worry about it.
