I RESCUED MY DOG FROM AN ANIMAL SHELTER AT THE END OF JANUARY THIS YEAR. I WAS TOLD SHE WAS A BULL DOG/LAB MIX AND THAT SHE WAS HOUSE BROKE AND VERY CALM. THIS WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED SINCE I AM RECOVERING FROM BREAST CANCER AND WANT A NICE CALM COMPANION DOG. WHEN i GOT "LILLY" HOME, ALL HECK BROKE LOOSE. i HAD THIS DOG WITH ADD THAT WAS JUMPING AROUND LIKE A KANGAROO. I TOOK HER TO THE VET FOR A CHECK-UP AND THE VET TOLD ME THAT SHE IS MORE LIKELY BOSTON TERRIER/JACK RUSSELL MIX. SHE IS A YEAR OLD AND HAS BAD HABITS THAT INCLUDE CLAWING AT ME IF I DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO HER AND SHE RIPS MY SKIN RIGHT OPEN AND JUMPING AT EVERYONE COMING THRU THE DOOR, AND THE WORST IS NIPPING AT MY GRANDCHILDRENS FEET AND ANKLES WHICH MAKES THEM RUN AWAY FROM HER WHICH MAKES HER THINK THEY ARE PLAYING SO SHE CHASES, NIPPING ALL THE WHILE. HELP!!!!!!!! MY DAUGHTERS ARE GOING TO QUIT BRING MY GRANDCHILDREN OVER. BUT I HAVE COME TO LOVE MY LITTLE LILLY.

Jack Russell mix

Sounds like you have a lot going on in your life right now, especially with recovering from breast cancer. I'm not sure how your health is but do you have the energy/stamina to take Lilly on daily walks and give her lots of exercise? That is what Jack Russells and Jack mixes need since they are so active. If not, are you in the financial position to hire someone to walk her or a pet behaviorist to help you find activities for her to do in the home? If not, unfortunately I would consider rehoming her otherwise the behavior may get worse. Since she is still young you do have time to train her and do obedience classes....only if you are up to it physically. Training can be done but it must be done consistently on a daily basis. Good luck and let us know how it goes. I personally know how hard breast cancer recovery can be and my heart goes out to you.
