Chewing clothing- jack russell terriers

Hi there, we have 2 jack sisters (now 6 months old) who are crazy beyond belief. They have some strange quirks which I wondered if you would be able to help me out with?

1 - They seek out any of our clothing, clean or not, and chew holes in the bottoms of underwear and trousers but do not seem too interested in tops, they then leave the chewed garments where they have finished with them. They also chew the ends out of socks too. Only the ends though.

2 - We have a male malamute who they adore (I think)They both dive on him when he is laying down and attach themselves to his inner lip looking like little sucker fish. He doesnt seem to mind and rolls around for as long as they want to do it.

They both get exercised a lot and have plenty to do to keep themselves occupied when we are away from home. Any ideas would be gratefully accepted. My friend has their brother and he is displaying the exact same behaviour.

Many Thanks in advance

Sharon

Jack Russell chewing clothing

Hi,
Your girls sounds really cute. I can picture them biting on the malamute's lip...very comical. Luckily he's a good sport about it :-)
In terms of the chewing....first of all make sure your stuff is off the floor and out of reach. Harder then it sounds, I've had plenty of my stuff chewed up by my Jack. Some Jack's like their owners scents. If you have a good dog chew dog, you could put it in your hamper for a day so that it has your scent on it. It's a good idea to have a variety of chew toys and rotate them on a frequent basis so that your Jacks don't get bored. And also, Kong's are great. You can fill them with peanut butter and bones and it can occupy your dogs for quite awhile....and when they are busy, they have less time for destroying clothes!
