Jack Russell eating own Poop
by: Anonymous

It is not uncommon for dogs to eat their own feces. There is actually a title for it - Coprophagia.
There could be a couple reasons why your dog is doing this. For starters, if this is a new behavior you should have him checked out by your Vet. Sometimes dogs that eat their own poop because they are not getting enough nutrients due to parasites or worms. Another reason may be the quality of food you are feeding him may be lacking the proper nutrients he needs or he simply may not be eating enough. Other dogs eat poop for anxiety reasons. If it is not health related then there area couple things you can do. First of all, don't give him access to it. Clean up your yard and when you walk him make sure you pick it up right away. Feeding him pureed pumpkin in his meals or adding pineapple juice can also make his poop less appealing (not sure why but it works).

In the meantime....don't let him lick you :-)
