I have a jack russel of 5 years old. She has been peeping her in bed twice now. The first time was about four weeks ago and again tonight. THis was never been done before.

What can the problem be for her doing this?

Housetraining backslides
by: Tom

Hi Elizia,

There are plenty of possibilities for why she might be going through a backslide with training. Look in particular at any major changes that may have happened in her routine or environment lately.

The other big possibility is that it's a health problem. If she's losing control of her bladder it can be a strong indication that she needs a vet visit.

I'd recommend a vet check up to be on the safe side, and from there proceed by going through the housetraining process to see if the problem disappears.

peeing jack russell

My JRT Ralph had this problem and it turned out he had bladder stones. He is now 16 years old, but has had 4 lots of surgery to remove bladder stones that continued to form over the past ten years. The vet put him on a special (very expensive) diet of canned food, but this did not stop the stones and Ralph (who is a bit of a gourmet) hated the food. I now feed him Chum, which he loves, and put a big handful of grated raw carrot and a bit of cooked rice in his dinner to reduce the amount of meat. He has never looked better and all the bladder problems appear to have disappeared.
