Facts about Jack Russell Terrier
by Alesha Wilson
Jack Russell Terrier (JRT) is a sturdy, tough terrier and is always on the run. They are cheerful, devoted and loving dogs. They are high spirited and obedient yet fearless even of their small structure. They may be generally kind to children but kids should be taught not to tease or hit the dog.
They are known for hunting, tracking and agility. Because of their strong hunting instincts, stronger than any average terriers, they should not be trusted with other small animals. They love to chase, explore, bark and dig. A Jack of 12 inches can jump five feet easily. They can climb, so if they climb they jump!
So if you own a Jack, don’t forget to take them on a long, daily, speedy walk. They can be a good companion when sufficiently exercised, but become a nuisance if you do not give them enough exercise. Don’t forget, they love to run, hunt and play, so leaving them in your house without good exercise or even just a long walk is not a very good idea.
Jack Russell Terrier is one of the most intelligent dog breed and it is important that we humans set rules for them to follow. They are highly trainable and are easy to teach tricks.
Since they are famous for their great personalities and full of energy, they are both great pets and great working dogs. They bring joy to the lives of their owners but can also turn into little devils. The owner must be strong-willed or this little guy will take over. It is important to be a dog’s true pack leader or your dog won’t excel.
