Our JR was 8 weeks old when we brought him home from the breeder. We mixed dried dog kibble with reconstituted puppy milk (supplied in powder form) for a couple of weeks and gradually introduced him to kibble and wet food available in separate bowls until he was about 3 months old.

This seems to have worked well and he has thrived. We contiue this diet until the present day with the addition of training treats (chicken, sausage, dog biscuits, etc., deducting the calorific content of these from his daily food allowance).

A sudden change in diet can cause tummy upsets so stick to the same brand of food and introduce new foods or changes of brands very gradually so that your dog becomes accustomed to it.

Always have a good supply of fresh (preferably filtered) water available. I have also found that having a little saucer of dried spirullina and a teaspoonful of olive oil per day has resulted in a very healthy dog! That of course is up to you - some consider it alternative therapy!

We had our annual check up with the vet this week and all is well with our lovely JR. Good Luck.
