Female Jack Russell, aggressive toward other 2 dogs

by Liana

I have a 9 month old female Jack Russell..we were going to get her fixed at 6 months, but she ended up gettin her period before her appointment and we were told that we could not fix her for 2 months.

She started to growl at my other two dogs (5 year old female shih tzu/maltese and 2 year old male shih tzu/bulldog mix) and now she has become more aggressive..she latches her teeth onto my male dogs ear or back (just to the fur) and we cannot get her off..we have decided to keep them separated until we get her fixed.
Is this the right method? And do you have any other tips?

Thanks

Female Jack getting aggressive NEW
by: Brent

Fixing your Jack should help with the aggression but might not totally solve everything. However, female dogs are definitely more aggressive when they are in heat. If after fixing her things don't get better, I would look into getting a pet behavior therapist that is trained to deal with aggression before things get worse or someone gets hurt. I would definitely keep them apart until you get the Jack fixed. Feed them separately, have them sleep in different areas and make sure they are never alone together. Good luck, I'm hoping fixing her helps!
