Frightened Jack when guests come
by: Anonymous

Our dog had a similar issue. What we did was put our jack on a leash before guests would come. This signaled to our jack that we were in control. We practiced this with our Jack by having friends come visit. Before they came we put him on the leash. We brought him over to the door and have him sit. We then gave him a high-value treat. We had our guests come to the door lock the door was open. We instructed them not to acknowledge our Jack and to be as calm and quiet as possible. After they came in we gave our Jack another high-value treat. We practiced this many times and kept the leash on our Jack the whole time the guests were there. We also kept our jack sitting near us as close to us as possible. It seemed to help in the long run and seem to decrease his anxiety.
