First night with our 5month old JR

by Kate M

We have adopted a 5 month old JR who we are told is a little anxious. Any tips on how to make him feel comfortable and welcome in his new home? We pick him up tomorrow and I want him to feel loved as well as for us to set some ground rules...

Adopting a Jack Russell
by: Francine

Congrats on your adoption! I hope you love your new Jack Russell, they are such wonderful pets. I'm sure your question is now old and you have had your Jack for some time now. However, if someone else is reading this who is adopting a new Jack - you could always leave a t shirt with your scent on it for the shelter to keep with the dog before you pick it up. That way the dog recognizes your scent. You could also keep that same t-shirt with the dog when he/she goes to seep at night (especially if they are sleeping in a crate or separate room).
I would also read up on potty training so that you are prepared. And make sure you have a set schedule for short and long walks as Jack Russell's need lots of exercise.
Hope things are going well for you and your new Jack!!
