I wouldn't leave them outside alone

I wouldn't leave them alone outside while your away.. It's very true about jacks being diggers.. My roxy lives to dig and stick her nose in holes when she gets a scent (maybe from a squirrel burying his food). My yard is filled with holes and places where she's dug but I don't leave her out unless I'm home. Thank god she doesn't dig to try to escape but my friend had a jack and this guy used to dig all the time to try and get out. If you have to leave them alone, I would crate train them or in the least have a pen sectioned off for him/her in your house. Mine is 10 months now and I don't trust her to be left roaming in my house. I have a section in my basement that's all tile and quite large her to play.. I tried it in the carpet one time and she dug a big spot of carpet out.

That all sounds fine but the puppy will get used to being with you again depending on how much time you are spending with the puppy! But watch out when you leave your Jack home alone they are very curious and will try to find a way out when you are not at home like digging which they are noted for and they need constant supervision I just thought I would warn you about digging I have 2 boy Jacks myself but Thank god neither one is interested in digging out of the fenced yard but they do not like being left alone they need constant people around them.
Good Luck
