Our Jack is 9 months old and chews on his feet all the time. The vet has treated him for mites even though he tested negative. They say he is too young for grass allergies but they have seen it on rare occasions. Any advice?

Feet Chewing
by: Anonymous

Dogs who are chewing on their feet, are chewing likely because they itch. When Paddy does this I spray a dermoplast, which has 20% Benocane on them. He never ever offers to lick or anything after that... Could be grass allergies, who knows..
Just not great for them to chew on them and develop infections or exacerbate the itch if it's hivy.
You can also safely dissolve a benadryl in water, and use it on the site, or give 1/2 per ea 10 lbs of bodyweight.
Goodluck!
