I miss you Milo
by: Anonymous

I lost my beloved 16 year old Milo on 25/11/2011. It broke my heart. My husband wrote me this poem which, in a nut shell, is the essence of little best friend:

Milo
A Life So Full
From the day you came until the day you left us
we were all the more alive because of you
From early breakfast until after dinner you were always there
All you ever gave us was joy, smiles and laughter
Food, walks and cuddles were your lot
A life so full, a life so free, a life we could only envy
Even though we now eat in peace the table seems bare
No more wagging tale or tilted head with laser stare,
and that damn doggy hair!
The house is quiet now, no more ticking feet
How I wish you were just asleep
You stole our hearts and our bed, and could never wait to be fed!
With every walk you came home to a treat,
no matter how much youd already had to eat
With longing eyes you watched us leave
To that wagging tail at home we came
From the beach to the bath you did like your belly wet
How could we ever forget
From whiskers to those deep brown eyes we were yours
Unless us you chose to ignore
Like a shadow you stayed close always by Suzies side
A better friend she never had
Back to your true Master you have gone
You are His and He is yours
Our loss is to Heavens gain, this thought alone can ease the pain
Treasured memories forever remain
Bye for now our precious POPS

Not a replacement, a new friend
by: Anonymous

We lost our 12 1/2 year old Ginger, the perfect pup, ten days after a surgical procedure. It left a huge hole in our hearts. She brought us joy every moment of her life and we were unable to talk about her without weeping. Our home became a sad place with no smiles or laughter.

Although we had originally decided not to bring another dog into our home, four months later we brought Lexye into our lives. Of course we had to have another Jack Russell -- their liveliness, personality and intelligence are so unique. But we were careful to select a puppy that was as "not Ginger" as possible...a shortie with entirely different facial markings and coat length.

Each person who has a wonderful dog to share life with handles the loss of this special friend differently. For us Lexye has made the loss of Ginger easier to accept and brought sunshine back into our lives.

It was amazing the change in our home. We are able to reminisce about Ginger without tears. Lexye has all the wonderful Jack Russell traits, and her own unique personality that keeps us constantly smiling and laughing. She will never replace Ginger, we love her for herself.

Grief does eventually get better
by: Jacki

The loss of a pet can sometimes be even tougher to get through than losing a human family member. I've had that same experience, so I can certainly relate.
Please give it time, don't rush into getting another dog to replace the one you lost, as it can be a disappointment. Try fostering, volunteering at an animal shelter or just boarding another dog until you feel more centered.
Good luck in your journey!

Sorry
by: Tom

Judith, I'm so sorry for your loss. I felt your pain as I read this - it's something I try to push to the back of my mind when I think of my dogs. This has really got me thinking. I'm going to talk about this in the next issue of the newsletter. We all share your pain.

Thanks for the support I was thinking of getting another JRT loving him/her just the way I did with Cindy. But one thing I am sure Cindy will never be forget...

Loss of A Loved One
by: Rita

I to lost my favorite pet Susie (JRT) last June 13th,2009. She was the light of my life as well as our family. We were very fortunate having her for 8 years of our lives. She brought us comfort and joy just as I am sure that your Cindy did for you.
Cindy will be waiting for you along with any other pets that you previously owned so please don't despair.
The loss of an animal so close is very hard to take.
Our family after a few month decided that without Suzie the house wasn't the same. We decided to check out puppies and found another JRT except this one is a male, he is also the light of our lives, we didn't think we could handle another puppy again but Milo has brought us so much joy, love and laughter. I do hope in time that you will get another animal. Its amazing how our little Milo has changed us inside and out. He is a wonderful little pup, now 10mths. My prayers are with you and I do hope in time you will do as we did. God Bless!!
