Harley my Jack Russell/ACD mix

by Linda MK
(New York)

I got Harley when he was 7 weeks and 2 lbs. He was so adorable I couldn't leave him...he was the only one of 6 puppies left.
He quickly got into my heart and he was named Harley after the motorcycle...my husband was an avid rider...until he was instantly killed on his in a head-on collision. Harley sat and stared at the front door for 3 weeks waiting for him to come (this just broke my heart). He is incredibly smart, extremely affectionate, and he just loves to lick your fee - this still remains a mystery - I have never seen another dog do this.
He has the greatest personality and has brought me so much joy. We have been through alot together. He was attacked by another dog twice in 2 weeks and needed 2 surgeries, medicine, and lots of love. I stayed with him on a mattress on the floor because he couldn't get up into bed on his own and picking him up only brought him pain. He has recuperated nicely from his injuries and at 10 is starting to show the signs of age, but is still very energetic.
He is the joy of my life and my "baby". I think they make a wonderful mix and a beautiful dog.
