Harley my Jack Russell/ACD mix

by Linda MK
(New York)

I got Harley when he was 7 weeks and 2 lbs. He was so adorable I couldn't leave him...he was the only one of 6 puppies left.

He quickly got into my heart and he was named Harley after the motorcycle...my husband was an avid rider...until he was instantly killed on his in a head-on collision. Harley sat and stared at the front door for 3 weeks waiting for him to come (this just broke my heart). He is incredibly smart, extremely affectionate, and he just loves to lick your fee - this still remains a mystery - I have never seen another dog do this.
He has the greatest personality and has brought me so much joy. We have been through alot together. He was attacked by another dog twice in 2 weeks and needed 2 surgeries, medicine, and lots of love. I stayed with him on a mattress on the floor because he couldn't get up into bed on his own and picking him up only brought him pain. He has recuperated nicely from his injuries and at 10 is starting to show the signs of age, but is still very energetic.
He is the joy of my life and my "baby". I think they make a wonderful mix and a beautiful dog.

So sorry NEW
by: Elaine

I'm so sorry to hear about your Harley. I too have lost my beloved Ed. The last time I posted you Ed was in the hospital being diagnosed with diabetes and pancreatitis. He pulled through and had to have insulin twice a day. We moved to St Thomas, and took him with us. He was a trooper, we were there for 2 1/2 years. We moved back last September 2015. We jumped through hoops to get him on the plane in the cabin with us and flew to Miami. Everything went perfect. We planned to drive back to Ohio from Miami so he wouldn't have to be stressed further through more airports. Everything went perfect until we got to Jacksonville. He become very ill very fast. We took him to a vet there and an over night ER. He didn't respond to IV therapy and we had to make the heart wrenching decision to put him down. Most difficult thing we've ever done. I'm writing this through tears as I will never get over him. He was also a JR/ACD. They are the perfect dogs. You don't see them very often. Every time I see one it takes mbreath away. Now your Harley is with his dad. Sisters in Grief, Elaine

Harley looks just like my Ed
by: Elaine

I have a acd/jrt mix named Ed. He is 10yrs. My husband wanted a dog so he brought him home to me for valentines day. He licks our feet too, I love it. He looks very much like your Harley. They are beautiful dogs. Ed is in the hospital now and has diabetes. Just starting insulin. I am scared I can't imagine loosing him. So sorry for your loss. I can imagine Harley waiting, for your husband. When my husband is traveling Ed does the same thing.

Jack Russell Mix
by: James

Harley is such a unique looking dog, what a great mix between the JRT and ACD!
I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. Dogs are really man's/woman's best friend and it sounds like you and Harley have been there for each other through various situations.
God bless!
