Jack Russell sleeps a lot and isn't very hyper

by Stephanie

We just got a 4 year old female Jack Russell Terrier from the humane society. She has kennel cough and is taking antibotics. She isn't as hyper as we expected and loves to sleep. Everyone keeps telling us it will change and just give it time. But so far she's just the calmest and sweetest dog we've seen. She plays, but just not the stereotypical JRT. Is this normal, bvecause of the kennel cough, will it most like change?

Thank you everyone! She actually ended up being sick. She had multiple stones in her bladder and needed surgery. It's almost 2 years later and she is better than ever! She's on a special diet and will need meds to regulate her urine acidity, but is doing great. She's still the best snuggler and loves her naps, but does have more energy now that she feels better, more the "typical JRT" She'll turn 7 in Feb and we couldn't ask for a better dog!

Not Hyper

We also rescued a Jack Russell adult from the pound. He sleeps a lot and is not active at all. He doesn't have any interest in running and playing. His vet visit is scheduled for this Saturday. Trying to take him for a run has been somewhat comical. It is almost like he is suffering from depression.
