Jack Russell sleeps a lot and isn't very hyper

We just got a 4 year old female Jack Russell Terrier from the humane society. She has kennel cough and is taking antibotics. She isn't as hyper as we expected and loves to sleep. Everyone keeps telling us it will change and just give it time. But so far she's just the calmest and sweetest dog we've seen. She plays, but just not the stereotypical JRT.
