jack russell suddenly yelping in pain

My 4 yr old JRT suddenly started yelping out in pain. It started when we picked him up about 15 min ago. He yelped out in pain. Loudly. He is playing fetch, running and walking with no problem. No limping. He is eating and drinking fine. But in his abdominal region right behind his front legs, he seems yo be in pain. We laid him on his side and examined him...no crying. Yet when he jumps off the couch or moves suddenly he yelps and is in obvious pain. Maybe a pulled muscle? I know the best thing to do is take him yo the vet. That is obviously our next move - however we are waiting for a family member to return with the car so I was hoping someone might have an idea what this is in the meantime. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks

Feeling better
by: Brenda

So glad to hear your Jack is doing better!! I agree, it's so hard to see our little ones in pain! Must of been a muscle twitch/charly horse or something.

all better!

Well we were getting ready to take him and when we picked him up he was fine! So we decided to give it an hour and we just watched him closely...he hasn't made a peep since! I'm thinking he just tweeked his muscle or something when he jumped off of the bed. He has been totally fine - the pain seemed to go away as quickly as it came. Thanks for your concern! :] breaks my heart to see my poor baby in any pain! So thankful hes okay!

Jack yelping in pain
by: Brenda

Your poor pup. Our dog had a similar issue and it turned out to be her back. Weird. But sometimes it can seem that the pain is in the abdominal area.

I hope your little one is ok. What happened at the vets?
