jack russell terrier is terrorizing cats

Hi, I have a two year old male Jack Russell called Cory, he's was castrated, quite a while ago, and has grown up with my three cats (I got them all at the same time) but recently, he has started going for them, he won't let them pass infront of him and this morning he ripped the fur out from above one of my cats eyes. I really don't understand why because he's never done anything like this before, he even sleeps with them. May I add that all the cats are also neutered or castrated. Please can you help?

Jack terrorizing cats
by: Anonymous

Thank you for your post, I'll go out and buy a crate. It's a shame though because like I said, I've never had a problem until now, apart from that and not coming back when I call, he's so lovely, everybody loves him and he's not a Jack that jumps up at everybody, just when he first sees them to say hello. Tahnks again

Jack Russell's and cats

Jack's unfortunately are hunting dogs at heart. They have a history of being unpredictable with other animals, especially cats. Even those that they seemed to get along with in the past.

I would be very careful with your cats. You are going to have to be vigilant when your Jack is around them. And when you leave the house, it would be wise to separate them!(perhaps keep the cats behind a closed door or crate your dog). I don't mean to scare you but I have heard bad stories of Jacks and cats.....
