JR urinating on my husband

About 3 weeks ago my Jack Russell started to urinate anytime my husband gets near him. His environment hasn't changed and is medically fine. Could this be a dominance issue?

Jack Russell urinating

If you have ruled out medical issues then yes, this could be a sign of submissive urination. Even though in your eyes nothing has changed maybe something in your dog's eyes have. Men's voices and height can sometimes scare a dog and since a dog can't tell us directly they use actions like urination to tell us. Some simple things your husband can do is to try getting down on ground level and using a calm soft voice. He'll also want to avoid direct eye contact with him. If you are working on different postures with the dog, have your husband run through "sit", "come" etc. daily with the dog and make sure he is giving him lots of praise and immediate reinforcement in the form of treats after each exercise is performed. Also, it might be a good idea for your husband to take the dog outside to urinate (and giving him praise for going outside) before doing any of these exercises. Try this out and let us know if it helps!
