I may be a little biased since I also love Boxers but I think you are getting the best of both worlds by getting a JRT/Boxer mix. Both breeds are intelligent and energetic. Boxers are usually great family dogs and work well with older children (they can knock over a small child because they can be rambunctious) and are easy to train. As a puppy not too much is different, a JRT/Boxer mix is going to need plenty of exercise, training and games to keep them stimulated. Good luck and keep us posted on your new little one.
