Lucy will need a companion

by Linda

As our 16 year old Aussie nears the end of her life we will probably get a companion for 5 year old JRT, Lucy. We are wondering if it is better to get a male or female because we want another JRT. Thanks for any input.

should we get a male or female jack russell terrier as second dog
by: Anonymous

I would get an opposite gender jack russell terrier as your second dog. This will reduce the chances of the dogs fighting for social dominance, which is more likely to happen amongst the terrier breed. Of course, make sure both animals are neutered, if you don't want lots of pups!
