Maisies Dad

we have a 4 month Jack Russell called maisie she is basically perfect other than when on walks we let her off lead when in a open area away from other dogs and occasionally she runs off with out warning and will not return , we are trying calling whilst knelt with a treat and also trying firmer calls, although not to much of a problem at present it does make us feel cautious to release her in future .We have been warned of certain stubborness in this type of breed will she grow out of, or is there any ways of training her .ta

They were designed to search out fox and other animals and to not give up! This makes it a challenge to allow them off leash and expect them to do anything but seek out small furry creatures! A long lead may be a good happy medium, allowing more freedom but ensuring his/her safety.

I would never let my female Jack off lead ANYWHERE! She is way too stubborn and if she caught the scent of something good she would be a fews towns away before she looked back lol! I just do not trust her so she only gets to be loose in the house and yard :) I never did professional training so maybe that would work, but remember these dogs are bred for hunting and are very quick. Good luck
