Mom of Kahuna

How can I limit her endless barking? We love her, but her behavior is deteriorating as she ages. She is aggressive with our older dog (12) a lasha apso mix although she has not been vicious.

Jack Russell barking
by: Wendy

There could be a few reasons for the barking. It could be that she is bored and needs more stimulation (walks, training exercises). It could be that she is feeling territorial of her space and that the other dog is taking over it. It could also be that she is losing some hearing and barks more because of it. Or that there is a medical issue going on that is causing her some pain.
The easiest thing to do is to increase exercise to see if that helps and make sure it is consistent. A food dispensing toy like a Kong can help with boredom (put in peanut butter and biscuits)while you are out of the house. And maybe see if there is someone who can walk the dogs mid day. I would also check in with your vet to make sure there isn't any medical issues.
