Hi I have a 4yr old miniature jack Russell, I would like to mate her, I really want to beable to keep a puppy from her litter as she is the most loving dog I've ever known but someone has said that yr old is too old? And also if she's not too old when will be the best day to mate her after her season has started?

Thank you

When to breed Jack Russell female
by: Anonymous

You need to wait for at least 10-12 days before she will except the male.once she excepts the male you need to breed her for at 3 days to make sure she took. that means take her to the male every other day for 3 days. after that you will be able to take her to the vet at 3-4 weeks after you breed her.

That being said, I would think very very carefully before you decide to breed your Jack Russell. There are many many puppies that don't have a home. Make sure you breed responsibly if you do decide to do it. Read up and get all the facts and make sure you will be able to find homes for these puppies.
