My 12 year old jack

by Lisa

My jack is 12 years old, very lively still but she seems to be developing lumps - shes got one in her chest which feels squishy and one on her front left leg which seems to be more on the top of the skin on the leg - she also seems to be struggling with stairs and jumping on and off the bed etc...any ideas!!!

Jack with lumps
by: Beth

Usually the lumps are benign tumors/fatty growths that some dogs get when they get older. You should have them checked out by the vet to make sure that they are in fact benign and not malignant! They can definitely affect gait regardless which is why your Jack is probably having difficulty on the stairs/jumping off the bed. In the meantime you can be conscious of helping your Jack on and off the bed and helping him up and down the stairs.
Good luck and let us know how everything goes!
