Hi I have a 2 year old rack russle cross and she is a very up and happy kind of dog full of energy and loves to play rough. I don't want to ever give her up she my puppy dog I love her to bits I just want to know should I let her near my new born baby or keep her away? She has had 2 litters of puppies already and she was never aggresive when we handled her puppies just very curious as to what we doing when we holding her puppies so she needed to she them while we hold them. She grew up arounf a one years old( my sisters little girl) but she has never been around a new born. Does anyone have any advice?

Jack Russell and new baby
by: Laura

When the baby is born, I would have someone bring home a onsie that the baby has worn while in the hospital. The will give your Jack some time to get accustomed to this new scent.
I would let your Jack sniff the new baby. Make sure they are never alone together. Also make sure that she still gets plenty of attention and exercise. Jacks can be fine with children but they need to be watched - because kids can grab and make sudden movements which not all Jacks can appreciate.
Your Jack already has exposure to young kids and is a mother herself. I wouldn't be that concerned, it sounds like she is up for the task.
Congrats on your upcoming arrival!
