My puppy is mean!

I have a 6 week old jack russell and he is already being very aggresive. I know he's not just playing, he's actually is snapping at us. I need to know if this behavior is correctable or it is something that may get worse as the puppy grows? I have 2 children, an 8 year old daughter and a 2 and half year old son, and they're safety is important to me. What can I do? Thank you sooooo much, Karen!
