We live on a property and have recently purchased a JT for a working/pet dog. I would like some information on socialising him with my free range chickens. Is it possible? He shows no interest as a pup....

Yummy Chickens!

Yes its possible. These are smart dogs. I would recommend you do some reading on "claiming" property. Once he realizes its YOURS He wont try to eat them. Hes a part of your pack and your chickens are part of the pack. Use your tools.

For dumb as it sounds walk them together even if that means strapping a chicken in a wagon or something. Make sure the dog doesnt walk in front of the wagon but beside or preferably behind. The place he has in a walk means everything to his place among his pack.

My jack lives very comfortably with 2 ferrets and a bunny although he realizes all living beings in MY home are MY pack. He plays with them, picks them up ever so gently in his mouth and places them in their cages. :)
