OLD JACK

by Ashley

My jack russell just turned 13 years old. He's very healthy, i don't give him any table food. But he's starting to get thinner and you can see his bones. Is there some kind of food or vitamin i can give him to put on some weight?

I would go to your local pet store and get a excellent quality dog food that is aimed at "seniors". The formulation is different and there is typically more protein. You can also top his food with cottage cheese, peanut butter, pumpkin or leftover chicken, rice, scrambled egg or veggies to help beef up his food a bit.
Google a recipe called "satin balls". It's good for helping dogs gain weight quickly.
Either way, have him checked out by the vet just to make sure there is nothing medically going on that is causing the weight loss.
