One Person Dog?

by Mike C

Although our 3 year old neutered male loves myself I am not even close when it comes to how he loves my wife. I take him for walks, drives in the car and he lays with me whenever I am watching television, etc BUT if the wife is around he will growl at me and run to "protect" her as I enter a room that she is in. Even growls when I kiss her goodbye in the morning? Anyone have any comments?

It sounds like your baby really attached himself to your wife...I have 2 Jacks 1 is 4 YO and his name is Elvis and he is attached to both my hubbie and myself but he sleeps attahed to my hip under the covers and my second one we just rescued about 4 months ago and his name is Patch and he is 14 months old and he sleeps wrapped around my head and seem to protect me more then my Hubbie Jacks are very loyal dogs and very smart maybe your Jack will find himself in love with both you and your wife evenually Patch will nip anyone that trys to come into my home and the trainer told me that he is protecting me but I got to get him to stop that he nips everyone upper thigh and calf of the leg and he nips pretty hard and someone oneday is not going to think it is funny so I really need to nip it in the bud before it gets worse!Good Luck and I hope I helped you somewhat!

Our little Sweetie that was a holy terror
by: Anonymous

Make sure that you and your wife spend time with him together, and make sure she lets him know that you love just as much as she does. They are very territorial and they have to know that you are both the boss. Make sure your wife lets him know this. One way of doing it is to flip him over on his back and hold him there and tell him he can not do this. Another way is to flick him on his nose and say no. He will get the hint as they are excetionally intelligent, give him an inch and he will take a mile. Believe me we learned from experince with our little guy. He wanted to eat anyone who came into sight and now is a well adapted 15 month old little Sweetie whom we both adore. He answers to Russell and to sweetheart.
