Young Jacks are nibbly! Hes testing his place. It is important you put him in his place. lol. Firmly and with a quick touch to his chest and a solid NO. Dogs in the wild nip, touch, wrestle to tell another dog his behavior is inapropriate. Its not firm enough to hurt but firm enough he knows you mean business

Training
by: Jen

Ok...I have a 2yr old jack myself. His name? Dirty Harry Callahan! You should begin training him the first day you bring him home. Start with his food. Mine was with me 3 days(we got him at 6 weeks old) before he understood he had to "wait" to eat his food. Dogs in the wild base their place in the pack on when they eat and pack leader lets them know. He sits and stares in my eyes and only darts to his bowl when I tell him "ok". Start with this FIRST. Then the walk. NEVER EVER let him enter or leave your house ahead of you. You are leader and he is follower. This will take a few times but Jacks are smart and it doesnt take them long. It takes only a nudge/tap with your finger to his chest with a stern "WAIT". Also....Jacks will forever vie for pack leader role and will periodically test you his entire life. Just REMIND HIM. This goes for the nipping and biting as well. Hes attempting to find out his place in your pack. Again...a firm ":-NO TEETH!" and a firm touch to the chest. Do not strike him...just touch or tap him firmly. Dogs react to touch. Mommy dogs teach their pups this way so if you want to train him...become a dog yourself. Best of luck to you both.
