Senior Jack Russell

Chipper will be 17 this year. He can't see or hear as well as he used to. He eats and drinks well. Loves his treats. He's losing his muscle tone so feels bony. His back legs give out every once in a while but regains his momentum. He doesn't appear to be in any pain. He always lets me know when he needs to do his duty. His back legs shake often but he's not cold. He has been a wonder healthy dog. He loved to race and won many ribbons. I just think he has quite a bit of spunk in him. When would I know if I'd have to make the choice of putting him to sleep if he doesn't cross the bridge naturally?
