Hi, I adopted a Jack Russell (or so I was told) 3 years ago from an owner who no longer wanted him, he was 2 at the time.He is absolutely beautiful and we love him dearly and have since added a Jack Russell puppy to the mix in the last 8 months. She is shorthaired and I have always assumed he is long haired. My question however is,"Why is his hair SO long?"He has to be groomed at least every 3 months because his coat becomes so shaggy. Is he still a Jack Russell or would he be crossed with something else? I honestly dont care but have always been curious??Thanks.

Long haired Jack Russell
by: Jason

I bet you have your hands full with 2 Jacks! The long haired Jack Russells can indeed have really long hair. It's hard to tell if your Jack is mixed without looking at a picture but there is definitely a chance that he isn't. We have a long haired Jack and it is way more work in terms of grooming then I expected!!!
