Skin irritation or allergy

by Carmen Marini
(Drexel Hill, PA)

My poor doggie seems to suffer from skin allergies. The vet said it is okay to give her childrens benydril up to 3 times a day. She is about 11 pounds. It seemed to be helping pretty good but lately she seems to be scratching more and more. She rubs her face on the carpet and seems to get it badly underneath her arms. Any suggestions?

Are you giving your JRT the maximum dosage of benadryll as your vet had suggested or are you giving her less than that? If you are giving her less, I would give the full three pills a day. If you are already giving the 3 pills a day, I would call your vet and let him know that she is still very itchy. He may want to have you bring her back for another appointment.
