Sudden aggression in my normally friendly jackie x

by debbie

Please help my jack russell whom we have owned and loved since he was 8 weeks old and has always been friendly brought up with children and houses full of people has suddenly become randomly aggressive and has even bit on several occassions. It may seem a trivial thing to some but its breaking my heart because I could never ever consider putting him to sleep. I have visited the vets with him and they assure there is no underlying health probs WHAT SHOULD I DO.

7 y/o J/R aggression
by: Anonymous

My 7 y/o male has recently bitten me & my wife. Both times this has occured at night. When he bit my wife, it was more like an attack. He had her hand, shaking it violently and would not let her go. I was able to grab him by the scruff of the neck and get him outside. This cost us a trip to the E.R. The dog is no longer allowed in the house. He stays in a fenced yard with two J/R mixed females & is exercised daily. When we are running or hunting, he is the perfect dog. He comes when he is called, follows me wherever I go, and lets me pet him & check him for ticks. We have not had an issue other than him barking wanting to come inside. I believe he is trying to become the pack leader in our family. The dog has never been abused, I dont have any other explanation other than the dog trying to show dominance. Your thoughts please...

I have 2 Jacks and both of them boys and Elvis is my almost 6 year old and when I got him he was not socialized at all and would attack anything on a leash and the bigger the better.....It sounds like you need to get a trainer because some JRT,s can be very aggressive....That is in the nature :)
But take my advise and get someone in to help you with this before it gets so much worse and that can happen very fast....Good Luck I hope this helps
