Dog losing teeth
by: Janice

There are a couple things that could cause an adult dog to lose a tooth:
1. Feeding your dog soft foods can promote the build up of plaque
2. Plaque and tartar can lead to gum disease
3. Gingivitis
4. Periodontal disease
5. Injury to the jaw or teeth, or calcium deficiency due to hypothyroidism or parathyroid damage, can also play a part in your adult dog losing her teeth.

It sounds like in your case that your Jack may have chewed on something tough which caused the teeth to fall out. Dogs can easily function without a few teeth but you should check with your vet to make sure the teeth weren't fractured (that can cause a lot of pain to your Jack) and to prevent further teeth from falling out.
