Thunderstorm Terror

by Keli
(San Antonio, TX)

My 7-year old Jack has always been terrified of thunderstorms, but for the last year her fear has gotten worse. We had a bad storm early this morning and I seriously thought she was in danger of having a heart attack!

I received a prescription from her vet for Acepromazine but it has no effect, and after doing a little research I now realize why. I will be speaking to her vet about why Ace is not the kind of drug Hope needs, but would like some advice on how to handle this without coming across as "questioning her expertise". I would also like to know what you have found the best drug to be for this situation that will actually ease her fear instead of masking it in order to make ME feel better.

Thank you very much!
Keli
