My wife, has a 2 yr. male JRT, SHORT HAIRED. We were thinking of breeding him, to have another generation. Where can we find a mate for him? We live near New Orleans.

Finding a dog to breed Jack Russell with
by: James

Before breeding there is a LOT that needs to be is NOT as simple as putting two dogs together and creating puppies. Not only should you get health tests professionally done you should also obtain blood tests for both male and female dogs as there is now a growing problem with sexually transmitted diseases amongst dogs to deal with, and by not having these test you could possibly subject the offspring to these health problems and risks also. These tests are getting more and more expensive!

There is an over population of dogs. The shelters are over-flowing with dogs. Breeding is a lot of work and should really be done to better the dog breed - not just stick to mutts (non pure breds) together.
If you really want to find someone you could put an ad out in a local paper or put out feelers through a local Jack Russell organization.
