too old to neuter?

my kids are six this june, i love my hannibal more than life itself & i was afraid to get him neutered. Now i'm worried i've made a mistake. Will getting him neutered at this age increase his lifespan, or will his age put him at a greater risk? Will the surgery itself pose a risk? I'lll do anything i can to help him stay with me as long as possible. Thank you:-)

Jack too old to neuter? NEW
by: Jane

YES!!! It will cut down on his risk of getting cancer! He's not too old at all, but the vet will likely want to do blood work prior to neutering to check things like his liver and kidney functions.
The surgery is not that bad and worth it for the decrease risk of cancer! I definitely understand your fears however in the end it will help keep him with you for longer.
