Wont eat his food.

Hi there, I have a 4 year old male Jack Russell and he has stopped eating his food. He always seems to be hungry and loves treats and will eat rice, tuna, chicken and ham with no problem but totally ignores his food. Most weeks he is sick at least once and has lost weight. Took him to the vets and they couldnt really see anything wrong with him. Last 2 weeks he has put on a bit of weight due to eating more. Yesterday morning tho I caught the little bugger trying to be sick and he's stopped eating again. He's drinking plenty of water and is fine in him self and has plenty of energy so I dont know if I should change his food again. I was wondering if any one on here as had this problem with there jacks?

It sounds like your Jack is a bit picky,Do you free feed your Jack?If so leave it down for about 1 hour if he does not eat it pick it up till evening meal or the next morning and then he will get the hint to eat not when he wants to but when you want him too!Good Luck I hope this helps.

Our JRT is just over a year old and seems to be fussy with his diet as well. What we did was take the rice, tuna, chicken, carrots, etc that he likes and mix them with the grain. Seems to work. Otherwise as long as his weight is stable, somedays they just don't feel like eating that much!
