worried about Daizy

Our 4 yr old jack russell, Daizy, isn't usually the must active dog. As far as jack russels go, she's the calmest one I've ever seen. She has her hyper moments, or extreme bursts of energy, but she calms down just as quick. She's always been a sleepy doggy. She sleeps a good bit. But 3 days ago, there was a big very noticeable change. She usually sleeps or lays around in the living room or whatever room the family is in. But she started going to my room to sleep-all day-only coming out for a quick drink of water, very small bit too eat, or to go out. She's eating and drinking way less. She usually goes out at least 15 times a day. I'm a smoker and when I step outside to smoke, (only smoke outside) she goes with me every time. As of 3 days ago, she's only come out of my room to go outside about 8 or 9 times. She seems depressed. This started at the exact same time my kids brought home 2 new pet hamsters. I tried to introduce her and let her get familiar with them, but it became quickly evident that she wanted to chew on them. I keep thinking maybe she's jealous, but it seems unlikely at the same time because they weren't even here for a 24 hr period and her behavior didn't change. Idk what to think. Anyone have any thoughts?

Sometimes dogs get a little down in the dumps. Maybe try changing her routine up a bit. Try taking her on walks that go on a different route than normal to help liven things up. Maybe some new toys will help too. Have you tried a Kong? Those are great. You can stuff it with peanut butter and biscuits, put it in the freezer for awhile and then give it to her - that way it takes longer for your Jack to eat/play with. I learned about that from this site. If you try these things and you don't see an improvement, I would take her to the vet to make sure nothing is wrong medically. Hope she's ok!
