Worried its more than a cold

by Leah
(Perth, WA, Australia )

My 4 year old jack russell has started shivering and seems to have lost all his energy. Started yesterday from what I noticed and his nose is a little runny. He seemed a little tired yesterday but at night time he pretty much just wanted to lay down and sleep.
This morning I came out and he was still in his bed and didn't try getting up even after I said we would go for a walk.. He's the type of dog to be outside my bedroom window at the crack of dawn or jumping with excitement when he's sees someones awake. It has been pretty cold the last week and sadly he's had to make the change from sleeping inside to outside - so I thought he might just be having a doggy cold, but he has a jacket and 2 very warm kennels. But after seeing him this morning he has me worried. We have been going for nice 1 hour walks the past week but yesterday we sped things up a little and went for another 20min walk before dark - my partner said he must just be tired - but that seems unlikely for a young jack russell.
Im not sure if he is just tired and has a little cold or if its something a lot more serious... Please help...
