Yelping in heat?

by Samantha
(Archer, FL)

I have a 2.5 year old Jackchi and she's currently in heat. She'll randomly start yelping and shaking. I can't really afford a vet bill and I'm worried. She seems like she's in major pain and she's done this before but she usually only does it before/during a heat. Could it be "cramps"? Is there anything I can do to help her without a major vet bill?

Thanks so much, Frank! I'll put her on the heating pad this evening, then. I have an appointment with a local vet in the middle of June to possibly get her spayed.

Jack yelping in heat

It's not uncommon for dogs in heat to yelp. I wouldn't worry about it too much. You can have her lay on a heated blanket/pad or a heated water bottle. A baby aspirin may help as well. Other than that, it's just mother nature. A good time for getting a dog spayed would be after a heat cycle.

I have been saving, I'm just not quite there yet. I was just curious as to why she could be doing this.

I hope this does not come across as rude, but, please save up enough money to get the dog spayed.
