Yelping when waking up

by Robin I.
(Buford, GA)

I adopted a BT/JR mix from a local rescue organization. He is 6 months old today - 10/29. For the past few weeks, he yelps like he is in pain when he is just waking up. Once he is awake, he yawns, stretches, and continues with his day as if nothing happened. I have pushed, prodded, and rubbed every inch of his body and he shows no signs of soreness or tender spots. He runs and plays with my other dog (another rescue that is a Corgi/Golden Retriever mix). He eats like a little pig (and begs for more), goes poop at the drop of a hat, and is happy to take a tinkle just because he can. I have noticed that his tummy is red/rashy and thought that is possibly associated with pollen/allergies from whatever is blooming this time of year. He has been on Trifexis for two months but I still get fleas off of him every time he is bathed. Any ideas/suggestions?

Yelping
by: Rgivy

Not long after my initial post I took Bentley to the vet. She pushed, pulled, probed, and twisted him every way possible. He did not cry or act like he was hurting. She said that he is in great health other than I should cut back on his food. We came home and he has NEVER done it again!! Go figure. I have commented that maybe he had something that was pinched and when the vet pulled and twisted him so much it popped back where it should be. Ultimately, he is absolutely awesome and I am glad that there was nothing wrong

Puppy yelping while waking up

Thanks for rescuing your little ones!
Yelping like screaming? Or is he whimpering in his sleep and waking himself up? Is he sleeping every time it happens or does it happen during other times like naps? If it's just a whimper I wouldn't worry about it. While I don't think it's anything big it really can hurt to call a vet just in case it's a torn ligament of something.
