My 5 year old JR is a very well behaved and sweet dog (not a typical hunter, etc.) In the last couple years, if she is sleeping on your lap or near you and you move ANYTHING to pet her or just your hand, etc. she growls and shows her teeth. Could she have a nerve issues that are not constantly bothering her? She looks like she is remorseful when she does it, and moves her nose so you will pet her anyway. THanks for your input

Jack Russell starting to snap while sleeping
by: Beth

Whenever a dog starts displaying behavior that is different from what you are used to or seems out of character, it is always a safe bet to take your little one to the vet. In the meantime, I would make a big effort not to disturb your Jack while she is sleeping. Once she is cleared medically, then write back and we can see about problem solving more.
